Changelog

Every Sky Island release for Minecraft 1.20.1, newest first, as published on CurseForge.

0.3.1 (beta)

Released 2026-10-02 · Download

A fix for 0.3.0. With Sky Island and Cruise Cruise no Mi 0.3.0 installed together, the game did not start. It does now, whichever version of Cruise you have. Nothing else changes: everything 0.3.0 brought is in 0.3.1.

Requires Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47+, Mine Mine no Mi 0.11.5 and AkumaLib 4.0.0 or newer. Client and server.

Worlds are untouched: nothing in the land changes from 0.3.0.

Fixes

  • The game starts with Cruise Cruise no Mi 0.3.0 and older. Both mods change how a fishing line floats - Sky Island to fish in the sea of clouds, Cruise to fish in lava - and the game accepted only one of the two. Cruise 0.3.1 already fixed it on its side; Sky Island now does on its own, so the two start together whatever their versions. Cloud fishing and lava fishing both work.
  • Any other mod that changes how a fishing line floats no longer stops the game for the same reason.

0.3.0 (beta)

Released 2026-10-02 · Download

The biggest update so far. Weatheria, the weather scientists' floating island, with Haredas at home and weather for sale. Sky people of our own: Skypieans, White Berets and Shandias with their own faces and wings, and Shandias armed with bows, pistols, rifles and shields. The waver and the Milky Roads to travel between islands. A cloud sea you can see into, with fish in it. Three predators in the Upper Yards. Villages rebuilt, house by house. And Skypiea generates two to three times faster.

Requires Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47+, Mine Mine no Mi 0.11.5 and AkumaLib 4.0.0 or newer (was 2.6.1). Client and server.

⚠️ Still a beta: worlds are generated from this version's rules. Chunks already explored keep what they have. Everything new that belongs to the land (Weatheria, the Milky Roads, the new houses, the solid island feet) appears only in places you have not been to yet.

New: Weatheria

  • A floating island of four cloud tiers on a great glass bubble, green on top. Rare: about one for ten islands. It hangs over land as well as over the sea, and no geyser leads to it: fly there.
  • The scientists' town: Haredas's tower at the summit, pinwheel windmills, houses, the observatory's glass sphere, the Weather Ball garden and the balloon terminal, joined by white stairs with glass railings.
  • Paths and scenery: white promenades, lamp posts and benches facing the view, trimmed trees and cloud trees, flower beds, a snowy corner with its snowman, a sunny corner of sunflowers, a weather station.
  • Its people: old scientists in wizard robes and pointed hats, twelve looks. They keep to their homes and flee when struck.
  • Haredas, the master of the Art of Weather, as the anime shows him: blue robe, great white beard, floppy hat, small wings pointing down. He still teaches the Art of Weather, on Weatheria and on the climate terrace of the villages that have one (one village in three now).
  • Weather for sale: the Weather Vendor at the balloon terminal sells the weather of the Blue Sea below - clear sky (1,000,000 extol, 15 min), rain (1,500,000, 10 min) or a thunderstorm (3,000,000, 5 min). One sale a day at each booth.
  • Weather Cloud, a new block: it drizzles, snows or blows a breeze. Two cut clouds and a bucket of water make two; click one with a snowball, a feather or a bucket of water to change its weather.
  • Cloud foxes and sheep live on the island. Its chests hold a Devil Fruit box now and then.

New: sky people of our own

  • Wings of our own: small round-feathered wings for the Skypieans, long swept-back ones for the Shandias. They fold at rest, open when walking and beat in the air. The Shandias no longer wear the Skypieans' antennae.
  • Skypiean villagers: eight people, men and women, young and old, with their hair grown into antennae. The dial merchant is one of them, behind his counter - and still sells the base mod's dials.
  • White Berets: eight faces under the same uniform, for guards and captains alike.

New: armed Shandias

  • A warrior now carries one of six weapons: spear, bow, twin pistols, rifle, shield and spear, or bazooka. Each fights its own way: archers and gunmen keep their distance, the rifleman aims before he fires (you see his line of sight), the shield-bearer guards his front, walks ahead of the others and can send projectiles back.
  • Shandia Bow and Shandia Shield: two new items, usable by players.
  • The Shandia spear has a 3D model in hand, for players and warriors, and a redrawn icon.
  • Shandias never hit each other with their arrows and bullets.

New: the waver and the Milky Roads

  • The waver, Skypiea's cloud-sea scooter: one rider, standing at the handlebars. Faster than a boat (about 13 blocks a second against 8), it glides on cloud as on the sea and climbs one-block steps.
    • Craft it with an iron ingot, planks and a Breath Dial, or buy it from the Waver Dealer at the seafront's dial workshop.
  • Milky Roads: every island is now linked to its nearest neighbour by a road of milky cloud, five blocks wide. It follows the sea where there is one and bridges the void where there is none, then climbs onto the island.

New: life in the cloud sea

  • The cloud sea is translucent: you can see what swims in it.
  • Sky Fish in shoals, leaping out of the sea; the rare Balloon Sky Fish, floating with its back out; the Giant Sky Fish, whose fan cuts the surface; the Sky Lobster on the Angel Beaches. They drop fish.
  • A fishing rod works in the cloud sea: the bobber floats and fish bite.
  • Sea Cloud Bucket: an empty bucket takes a block of sea cloud, the full one lays it back, like powder snow. Sea cloud broken by hand no longer drops itself.
  • Sea cloud waters cloud farmland.

New: the predators of the Upper Yards

  • The Cloud Wolf: a wolf on two legs, in packs of two or three. It hunts players on sight, and a wolf that is struck calls its pack. It can be tamed with cooked meat (one try in three): it then follows you, fights for you and sits when told. Three coats. Weaker than a Shandia, but faster.
  • The Sky Shark: a shark that swims the air, in twos and threes. It goes for blood: a wounded player draws it from far away, and it will even turn on a wounded shark.
  • The Sky Lamprey: a giant that waits sunk in the ground, with only its ring of teeth showing. Come too close and it rises, bites and holds you in its mouth for three seconds. Strike it hard - you or a friend - and it lets go. Rare, alone, and as tough as a Shandia chief.

New: villages rebuilt

  • Five house shapes instead of three: the family house, a two-storey house with a balcony, the fisherman's house with its catch drying, a round house under a dome, a house with a gallery. Each draws its roof colour - turquoise, coral, amber or lilac - with shutters and a door painted to match, and its own walls.
  • Houses are furnished: table and chairs, a kitchen with a smoking chimney, beds, shelves, carpets, flowers at the windows.
  • The trades have their colours: an amber inn with a bar and rooms upstairs, a coral dial shop, a White Berets' post like a small white tower, a lilac dial workshop on the seafront.
  • Streets show: an oak border along the paving and lamp posts. Windows look like windows: cloud glass is redrawn with a wooden frame.
  • New blocks, all craftable: Coral, Amber and Lilac Shell Tiles and stairs; painted Shutters and Doors in four colours; Turquoise, Amber and Lilac Awning Cloth; Gilded Stone Bricks.
  • Seafront buildings now stand on their own stretch of beach instead of in the sea.

For server builders

  • Knock-Up Stream block (creative only): placed anywhere, it erupts with the geysers and sends whoever stands on it to Skypiea, at the same place.
  • An empty Skypiea: empty_skypiea = true in inosky-server.toml gives a Skypiea with no sea, no island and no geyser, to build your own. Set it before the world is first opened.
  • Public biome tags for other mods and datapacks: inosky:is_skypiea, is_cloud_sea, is_angel_island, is_upper_yard.

Changes

  • Skypiea generates two to three times faster. The land itself is unchanged.
  • Shandora gives about half the boxes it gave (4 a city instead of 8). The Golden Boxes are spared: more of the boxes you find are golden. This also reaches unopened chests in existing worlds.
  • Shandora's walls are inlaid with gilded stone bricks instead of blocks of gold. The crypt keeps its gold.
  • More lookouts and camps: an island gets a White Beret lookout wherever its shore has room, never beside another; an Upper Yard gets several Shandia camps wherever it has the clearings.
  • Compatibility checked: Terralith, and TerraBlender with Biomes O' Plenty - geysers and islands appear as usual.

Fixes

  • An island's foot is solid cloud: under the waterline an island was made of sea cloud, which you could sink into - and which looked like glass.
  • The Shandias' hidden village no longer sits partly on an island.
  • White Beret guards defend the villagers every time: a guard could ignore an attack that happened while he was stepping down a block.
  • Leaves no longer block the Giant Jack's ramp.
  • A piece of roof no longer floats in Shandora's great hall, and village counters and tables no longer hover over the floor.
  • Valkyrien Skies: a ship arriving by geyser is never set down across a Milky Road.

0.2.0 (beta)

Released 2026-09-26 · Download

Skypiea comes alive: its first animals. Giant South Birds that always face south, two birds you can tame, saddle and fly, the Cloud Fox and the huge Giant Dog as companions - the dog a mount too. And a round of fixes: every village island gets its Heaven's Gate, geysers keep their vent, and exploring Skypiea no longer floods the log.

Requires Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47+, Mine Mine no Mi 0.11.5 and AkumaLib 2.6.1 or newer (was 2.5.0). Client and server.

⚠️ Still a beta: worlds are generated from this version's rules. Chunks already explored keep what they have; islands you have not reached yet may get a Heaven's Gate they would not have had in 0.1.0 (see Fixes).

New: the birds of Skypiea

  • The giant South Bird (Upper Yards): the Jaya bird, grown huge on Skypiea and friendly. A living compass - once it stops, it turns to face south, beak and all.
  • The Sky Dot Bird (Pierre's kind) - pink and dotted, rare on the Angel Islands and in the Upper Yards - and the Three-Jo Bird (Fuza's kind) - a great lilac vulture, rarer still, in the Upper Yards only. Both are flying mounts:
    • tame them with seeds (like a parrot), then put a vanilla saddle on them;
    • only their owner rides and steers them;
    • fly like a horse that flies: the movement keys go the way you look, Jump climbs, Sneak descends, with neither they hover;
    • in the air, Sneak never drops you off - land first, then Sneak to get down;
    • fall out of Skypiea on one and you both go home, still in the saddle.
  • Their wings fold on the ground, beat fast when hovering or climbing, slow when cruising, and hold still in a dive; they bank into turns - with a rider too.
  • Drops: feathers and meat (cooked if they burned), more with Looting; a mount's saddle drops too.

New: companions

  • The Cloud Fox (Su's kind), on the Angel Islands: tame it with fish. It follows you, and lies down on the cloud when told to sit.
  • The Giant Dog (Holy's kind), very rare in the Upper Yards, huge: tame it with raw meat.
    • A guard, like a wolf: it goes for whatever strikes you and whatever you strike (never creepers, ghasts or your other animals), and catches up with you when it gets stuck in the trees.
    • A mount: saddle it and ride it like a horse - Jump leaps about three blocks. No fall damage under ten blocks.
    • 80 health, 8 attack damage.
  • Five coats each, the first the manga's own: fox cloud, sky, dawn, mint, dusk; dog cream, russet, silver, chocolate, charcoal.

Fixes

  • Geysers keep their vent: an amethyst geode next to a geyser could crush it. A geyser now repairs its crater by itself.
  • Heaven's Gate on every village island: about half of them had none. Where the gate needs the room, the beach's deck chairs, castle or workshop are left out.
  • You always arrive in front of the gate, never on its roof, even on a sloping coast.
  • Valkyrien Skies: a ship arriving by geyser no longer lands on Heaven's Gate; it looks further out for open cloud sea where the sea is shallow.
  • Exploring Skypiea is smoother: the game no longer fills its log with warnings each time new land appears, which slowed it down. The islands themselves are unchanged.

Known issues

  • Some Angel Islands have no White Beret lookout, or one oddly placed.
  • The Shandias' hidden village sometimes sits partly on an island instead of on the sea.
  • Some small Upper Yards have a single Shandia camp.
  • In a few worlds, leaves block the Giant Jack's ramp.

0.1.0 (beta)

Released 2026-09-24 · Download

The first release. A Forge addon for Mine Mine no Mi that adds Skypiea as a dedicated dimension, reached by riding a Knock-Up Stream up from the floor of the deep oceans: the cloud sea, the Angel Islands and their Skypiean villages, the beach, Heaven's Gate, and the Upper Yards with the Giant Jack, the ruins of Shandora and the Shandias.

Requires Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47+, Mine Mine no Mi 0.11.5 and AkumaLib 2.5.0 or newer. Client and server.

⚠️ The base mod's own sky islands no longer generate in the overworld: Skypiea replaces them. Structures already generated in an existing world stay where they are.

⚠️ A beta: worlds are generated from this version's rules. A later version may change where islands and structures stand in chunks not yet explored.

The way up: the Knock-Up Stream

  • A geyser on the floor of the deep oceans, one for each island above. Every ten minutes it rumbles for thirty seconds, then erupts for ninety (all configurable).
  • The column throws whatever is caught in it into the sky - players, mobs, dropped items, boats with their riders - and sends it on to Skypiea. An eruption always lasts long enough to carry somebody from the sea floor to the top.
  • You arrive on the ground or on the cloud sea, never inside a block: in front of Heaven's Gate on an island with a village.
  • /locate structure inosky:knock_up_stream finds one. /geyser tells where the nearest one is and when it erupts; /geyser now makes it erupt at once (operators).

The way down

  • Step off an island and sink through the cloud sea: below the bottom of Skypiea you come out high above the same place in the overworld, with slow falling. Boats come back too.

Skypiea

  • Islands only above the overworld's deep oceans; open cloud sea everywhere else above deep water, nothing above land.
  • The cloud sea: a sea of cloud you swim in, with a swell, bluish and animated so it is never mistaken for island cloud. Boats float and sail on it.
  • Its own sky, and no lava sea under it.
  • Island cloud, sea cloud and the Knock-Up Core are the dimension's own blocks; the Upper Yards are made of the overworld's earth and stone - the Vearth of the Blue Sea.

Angel Islands

Two islands in three: low islands of island cloud from top to bottom, a few trees rooted in the cloud. * Skypiean villages: houses of cloud brick, cut cloud and shell tiles, streets and a square, Skypiean civilians and traders (the base mod's own). Larger villages on the larger islands, with an inn, a bandstand, kitchen gardens and a cloud fountain. * Cloud farmland: a hoe tills island cloud, and crops grow in it exactly as in farmland. * The White Berets: their post in every village (with a rare chest of seized goods), recruits and a captain policing the village - calibrated against the base mod's NPCs. * The village blocks can be crafted: cloud brick, cut cloud, cloud pillars, shell tiles, awning cloth, cloud glass, conch lanterns, Vearth urns. * Angel Beach: the flat shore at the foot of the cliffs. Dials wash up on it over time. A seafront once per village island - the dial workshop, a promenade, a pier, deck chairs, sometimes a cloud castle - and one to three White Beret lookouts along the shore. * Heaven's Gate: the way into Skypiea on every village island - the gate, its tunnel, and a causeway to the promenade.

Upper Yards

One island in three, rarer and far larger: jungle plains around y 100, and massifs rising to about 215. * The Giant Jack (one Upper Yard in three): a beanstalk climbable to the top, a ramp up its whole height, and the Golden Bell at the summit with its chest - one or two boxes, a Golden Box in about two chests in five. * Shandora, the City of Gold (a little over half of the Upper Yards, sometimes beside a Giant Jack): its square, avenues and halls, the stepped temple and its altar, and the crypt under the Poneglyph - the treasure, one or two boxes a chest. Halls, altar and crypt all hold boxes now and then. * Small ruins of Shandora: one to three per Upper Yard in the jungle - an altar, a colonnade, a fallen house, a sacred well. * The Shandias: warriors and a chief guarding their land. They attack only looters - open their chests and they come for you. Their own weapons, the Shandia spear and the burn bazooka, and skills from dials (burn bazooka, impact, breath dash, sky step, the chief's reject). * Shandia war camps: two to four per Upper Yard, in clearings of the plains - four tipis round a fire, a totem, a weapon rack, a lookout. A chest in every tipi. * The hidden village: the Shandias' village in a pocket of cloud on the sea at the island's foot, opening on the sea - six tipis round a square, the statue of Kalgara, totems along the path, the chief by the fire.

Compatibility

  • Worldgen mods: Skypiea reads the overworld's own biomes to find the deep oceans (minecraft:is_deep_ocean) and changes nothing in the overworld beyond the geyser.
  • Valkyrien Skies 2 (optional, 2.4.11 or newer): a ship in an erupting Knock-Up Stream rises to Skypiea with its crew, lands on open cloud sea and floats on it; a ship that falls out of Skypiea goes back to the overworld with its crew. Sky Island never requires VS.

Configuration

<world>/serverconfig/inosky-server.toml: * geyser: cycle_ticks (12000), eruption_ticks (1800), charge_ticks (600); * return: return_y (-32), the height below which a body falls back to the overworld; * angel_beach: dial_chance (2000), dial_cap (2), how often dials wash up and how many a stretch of beach holds.

Known issues

  • An amethyst geode generated in a neighbouring chunk can crush a geyser's vent (#42).
