Navigator¶
The Navigator learns by discovering places: every chunk they have never been in, and every new land and new kind of place in their Log Book. At their bench, the Chart Table, they make the tools that find the way: the Log Pose, the Barometer, the Sea Chart and the Eternal Pose. At the helm, they make the Carpenter's boats go a little faster.

The Chart Table¶
Made at a crafting table from paper, a compass and planks (any kind):
| Paper | Compass | Paper |
| Planks | Planks | Planks |
| Planks | Planks |
It faces you when placed and is mined with an axe. The Navigator's four recipes are made there.
Charting recipes¶
| Makes | Level | XP | Ingredients |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 12 | Compass, Glass Pane, Leather, Gold Nugget | |
| 20 | 50 | Glass Bottle, 2 × Copper Ingot, |
|
| 30 | 70 | 2 × Paper, Compass, |

| 50 | 110 |
Exploring¶
A Navigator earns 2 XP for every chunk they have never been in, on foot, by boat or in the air, in any dimension. Going back over old ground pays nothing.
The Log Book¶
Open it with the Log Book button on the Navigator's page of the professions book. It has two sections, filled for any player in the Overworld:
- Lands: every Overworld biome you stand in (+25 Navigator XP for each new one).
- Places: every kind of structure you stand in or come within 8 blocks of, from vanilla, Mine Mine no Mi and other mods, except buried treasure (+50 Navigator XP for each new one).
The book also keeps the names of the villages you have been to.
Each tenth of a section you complete pays Belly to anyone, and XP to a Navigator: from 500 Belly and 50 XP at 10 % up to 100 000 Belly and 6 000 XP at 100 %. See Bestiary and Log Book.
Level 1: the Log Pose¶
The Log Pose (does not stack) is a needle under glass that points, like a compass, to the nearest biome of a chosen kind.
- Use it to switch to the next kind of land your Navigator level opens: it searches and points to the nearest one ("Log Pose set on Forests: N blocks").
- Use it crouching to search again for the same kind from where you stand.
- It searches 2 400 blocks around (4 800 from Navigator level 25), with a 3-second cooldown.
- Only a Navigator can set it; anyone can follow the needle.
| Kind of land | Navigator level |
|---|---|
| Forests, Beaches, Plains | 1 |
| Deserts, Savannas, Taigas | 10 |
| Jungles, Swamps, Badlands | 20 |
| Mountains, Snowy lands | 30 |
| Dark Forests, Cherry Groves | 40 |
| Mushroom Fields | 60 |
| Ice Spikes | 80 |
| the Deep Dark (searched underground) | 100 |
Deserts, Swamps, Plains, Snowy lands and Mushroom Fields also include other mods' biomes of the same kind.
Level 20: the Barometer¶
The Barometer (does not stack) tells anyone who uses it what the weather will do, in real minutes:
- "Fair weather, set for about N minutes"
- "Clear for now - rain in about N minutes"
- "Raining - it clears in about N minutes"
- "Raining - a storm breaks in about N minutes"
- "Storm - it passes in about N minutes"
Where there is no sky (the Nether, the End) the needle does not move. It only forecasts the weather; it does not change it.
Level 30: the Sea Chart¶
The Sea Chart (stacks to 16) is a blank chart.
- Use it to pick the next kind of place your level opens; use it crouching to draw it.
- It becomes a map ("Sea Chart: Villages") with the nearest such place marked: ocean monuments and woodland mansions with their vanilla icons, the rest with an X. It searches up to 1 600 blocks around.
- Like a cartographer's map, a chart never leads to a place already charted in the world.
- The Villages kind leads to Cruise's own villages first, the nearest not yet charted and still lived in, and to one of Minecraft's villages when there is none in reach. The chart takes a few seconds to draw; the game does not stop meanwhile.
- Drawing uses one blank chart, gives 20 Navigator XP, and has a 3-second cooldown.
- Only a Navigator can draw one; anyone can read, sell or give the drawn map.
| Kind of place | Navigator level | What it finds |
|---|---|---|
| Villages, Shipwrecks, Ocean Ruins, Pirate Ships, Training Grounds | 30 | villages, shipwrecks, ocean ruins; Mine Mine no Mi's small and medium pirate ships, its ghost ship and its training structures |
| Marine Posts, Bandit Hideouts, Pillager Outposts, Temples | 40 | Mine Mine no Mi's small Marine bases, watch towers and bandit structures; pillager outposts; desert and jungle pyramids |
| Ruined Portals, Witch Huts, Igloos, Trail Ruins | 50 | the vanilla structures |
| Marine Fortresses, Warships, Ocean Monuments | 60 | Mine Mine no Mi's large Marine base and large ships; ocean monuments |
| Sky Islands | 70 | Mine Mine no Mi's sky islands |
| Woodland Mansions | 80 | the vanilla structure |
| Ancient Cities | 90 | the vanilla structure |
| Strongholds | 100 | the vanilla structure |
Level 50: the Eternal Pose¶
The Eternal Pose (stacks to 16, uncommon) points to one place, for good.
- A Navigator uses a blank one to calibrate it where they stand (it takes one from the stack; +40 Navigator XP). From then on it points there and cannot be set again.
- It is named after the place: the structure they stood in (within 8 blocks), otherwise the biome, or whatever name an anvil gave it.
- Anyone can use a calibrated one to see how far away the place is ("It points to X: N blocks away", or "in another world").
At the helm¶
From level 10, the Carpenter's boats you steer go 1 % faster, on any water; from level 40, 2 % faster (replacing the 1 %). The boat's total speed boost (hull, shape, sail and helmsman together) is capped at ×1.075, so a Navigator makes an ordinary boat faster but adds little to the fastest one. See Boats and the Carpenter.
Where the XP comes from¶
| Source | XP |
|---|---|
| A chunk never visited | 2 |
| A new land in the Log Book | 25 |
| A new kind of place in the Log Book | 50 |
| Drawing a Sea Chart | 20 |
| Calibrating an Eternal Pose | 40 |
| Chart Table recipes | 12 / 50 / 70 / 110 |
| Each tenth of a Log Book section | 50 up to 6 000 |
Level perks¶
| Level | Perk | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | "Fair wind: the Carpenter's boats you steer make a little more way, on any water" | the Carpenter's boats you steer go 1 % faster |
| 25 | "Long sight: your Log Pose reaches twice as far" | your Log Pose searches 4 800 blocks instead of 2 400 |
| 40 | "Trade winds: the boats you steer make more way again" | the boats you steer go 2 % faster (replacing the 1 %), within the ×1.075 cap |
